”SMELL IT” 2008 view of B & W “Smell Map Mural” made out of wall paper on cintra (72” x 129”inches). The map was produced with Esther M.Klain Art Gallery, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania as part of the exhibition “Odor Limits “ May 9 through June 28. The graphic visualization of DIY smell map was created by the artist combining satellite and goggle aerial maps as well as her own physical mapping of the city of Philadelphia .The map urges the visitors while walking to discover and to record olfactory experiences among the urban concrete as a challenge and a thrill and finally upon return to the gallery to make their olfactory notations in color directly on the smell map. In today’s odor phobic culture the act of sniffing in public is odd even suspicious yet the smell mapping charts the subjective importance of scent and the elusive importance upon the over all character of the urban landscape.
